Boulder Recreation
There may not be another city in the world better suited to outdoor recreation than Boulder, Colorado. Though it has all the fine amenities of any other city of its size, few places are as close to nature as Boulder.
The city is surrounded by over 30,000 acres of natural open space, full
of trails and perfect for cycling, walking and running. Numerous city
parks provide places for children to play and adults to walk along
wooded streams. And that’s just within the city limits. A ten-minute
drive will take residents from downtown Boulder to the rugged hiking and mountain biking terrain that sits in the foothills west of town. It is no wonder that Boulder attracts outdoor enthusiasts from all over the world.
Chautauqua Park
One of the favorite spots for outdoor recreation in Boulder is Chautauqua Park. Lying at the foot of the spectacular Flatiron Mountains,
Chautauqua gives residents the opportunity to hike its many trails,
climb one of the peaks, or just take some lovely pictures of the
breathtaking scenery. The Chautauqua Summer Festival and the revered
Colorado Music Festival are both held here at the Chautauqua Auditorium.
Boulder Golfing
Flatirons Golf Course is considered by many to be one of the best-kept secrets in Colorado.
This 18-hole course features narrow, tree lined fairways and 12 holes
with water hazards. There is enough variety on every hole to make the
experience fun and challenging for any level of golfer. Even if the
weather isn’t always perfect, the beautiful backdrop of the Flatirons
is always there to enjoy.
Biking, Hiking and Swimming Adventures
Boulder
has a plethora of biking, hiking, running and swimming clubs to join,
but even if you aren’t an exercise fanatic you will probably want to
take advantage of the many trails that snake through Boulder. Stop by the city’s Visitor Bureau to pick up a trail guide to help navigate through the maze. Boulder
offers special protection to its prairie dog population, which means
you will probably see plenty of them as you bike, run or walk around
the greenbelts surrounding the city.
Climbing Eldorado Canyon
Nearby Eldorado Canyon offers world-class rock climbing opportunities for the more adventurous Boulderites. Just a short drive away, Eldorado Canyon
features steep rock cliffs on all sides that require technical climbing
skills to surmount. Once on top, climbers can rest and survey the
stream running through valley below. There are also numerous scenic
hiking trails in Eldorado Canyon State Park.
Boating and Sailing in Boulder Reservoir
For those who are looking for boating prospects around Boulder,
the Boulder Reservoir provides a place to get out on the water. Sailing
classes and boat rentals are both offered. Admission to the reservoir
costs $6 for an adult, $4 for a teen, and $2.75 for kids 12 and under.
Annual passes can be purchased for the entire family for $200 if you
are a Boulder resident;

Pool. Many residents are looking forward to the Valmont City Park, a 132-acre project that is still in the planning stages.
