Meeker Park & Allenspark Entertainment and Recreation

 The towns of Meeker Park and Allenspark offer plenty of opportunities for entertainment and recreation. There are several fine eating establishments, as well as many outdoor activities available. Visitors or residents can explore nearby Rocky Mountain National Park , with its majestic peaks and lush valleys, or they can go horseback riding from one of the many stables around the area. During the summer months, fishing is also a popular pastime, and during the winter a lot of people go cross-country skiing. Downhill ski areas near Allenspark include Arapahoe Basin, Beaver Creek, Eldora, Keystone, Loveland and Breckenridge. There are also many excellent hiking trails around Meeker Park and Allenspark, and during the fall they provide spectacular views of the changing autumn leaves on the aspen trees. Some of the major nearby trails are the Continental Divide Trail, Allenspark Trail to Calypso Cascades, Alberta Falls in Rocky Mountain National Park, Finch Lake Trail and the Arapahoe Pass Trail to Lake Dorothy. Roosevelt National Forest, which is also right by Allenpark and Meeker Park, allows leashed dogs on its trails. Camping opportunities also abound in this area. Several main campgrounds around Allenspark include: Estes Park KOA Campground, Canyonside Campground, Diamond Campgrounds and Dory Hill Campground.

 Besides the massive Rocky Mountain National Park, there are a handful of other parks for nature lovers to visit nearby, such as Golden Gate Canyon State Park, Barbour Ponds State Park, Boyd Lake State Park, Lory State Park, Eldorado Canyon State Park and the Colorado River State Park. All sorts of hiking, fishing, climbing, horseback riding, mountain biking and rafting choices can be found in these diverse and scenic parks. 

 If you are interested in the past, there are several first-rate museums near Meeker Park and Allenspark. These include, but are not limited to, the Longmont Museum in Longmont, the Boulder History Museum in Boulder, the Collage Children’s Museum in Boulder County, the Loveland Museum and Gallery in Loveland, and the Miners Museum in Boulder County. Allenpark and Meeker Park are tight-knit communities that also include several local organizations. These include: the YMCA, Little League, cycling clubs and paddling clubs.

 The rustic, attractive Fawnbrook Inn is a local favorite for food and atmosphere. An Austrian born chef provides European cuisine such as beef Wellington and chateaubriand. There are also plenty of hearty Colorado dishes with bacon, beef tenderloin, and shallots. The fantastic dinners also include soups, salads and house-baked breads. The Fawnbrook is a quiet restaurant that features an excellent wine selection and refined, understated fine dining. The Meadow Mountain Café is another superb restaurant nearby. If you want a small coffee house that is far removed from the commercialism of huge urban chains, try Tapestry of Life Coffee.

 If you are searching for a wider variety of entertainment and dining than these small towns can offer, try Estes Park or Boulder, both of which are a short drive away and contain plenty of options.
